Marc Claramunt (France) is a landscape architect, educator, editor, and professional advocate whose career has been dedicated to the advancement of landscape architecture through design practice, education, research, and international collaboration. Born in Courbevoie, France, on 9 August 1961, he graduated as a landscape architect from the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage (ENSP) in Versailles, one of Europe’s leading institutions for landscape architecture.

A committed voice within the profession, Marc co-founded the landscape journal Paysages Pages in 1986 together with renowned landscape architect Catherine Mosbach. As co-editor, he helped create an influential platform for the exchange of ideas, critical reflection, and professional debate on contemporary landscape architecture and its role in society.

Since 1990, Marc has directed Atelier Phusis, a Paris-based landscape architecture practice working across a wide range of projects in landscape design, urban environments, and territorial development. His work is characterised by a strong sensitivity to the relationship between natural processes, cultural identity, and the experience of place.

Recognised for his expertise and professional commitment, he became a member of the French National Council of Landscape Architects in 1995. Alongside his practice, he has been deeply involved in landscape architecture education. Since 1999, he has served as Associate Professor at the National School of Nature and Landscape in Blois, where he has helped educate and inspire future generations of landscape architects.

At the European level, Marc has been an active representative of the French Federation of Landscape Architects (FFP) within IFLA Europe, contributing to professional dialogue, international cooperation, and the promotion of landscape architecture across Europe. Through his engagement in both professional organisations and academic institutions, he has consistently advocated for the recognition of landscape architecture as a key discipline in addressing environmental, cultural, and societal challenges.
