Advocacy and Representation

Representing Landscape Architects in Europe.

IFLA Europe is the collective voice of the landscape architecture profession across Europe.

Through advocacy and representation, we promote the value of landscape architecture in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time, including climate change, biodiversity loss, public health, cultural heritage, and sustainable development. We engage with European institutions, international organisations, policy-makers, and partner networks to ensure that landscape architects contribute to shaping resilient, inclusive, and beautiful environments. By representing the interests of our members and the wider profession, we strengthen the recognition, influence, and impact of landscape architecture at European and global levels.

European Institutions

IFLA Europe represents the landscape architecture profession in dialogue with the European Institutions. We contribute expertise and advocate for policies.

Through active engagement with European initiatives such as the Green Deal, the New European Bauhaus, the EU Biodiversity Strategy, and the Urban Agenda for the EU, IFLA Europe ensures that landscape architects are recognised as vital in addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

We work to bring the landscape perspective into European policymaking, helping to create healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable places for all Europeans.

Council of Europe

At the Council of Europe, IFLA Europe serves as a leading advocate for the protection, management, and planning of landscapes as a fundamental component of Europe’s natural and cultural heritage.

Through its engagement with the European Landscape Convention and related policy initiatives, IFLA Europe contributes expert knowledge, promotes the value of landscape architects, and supports the development of landscape-sensitive approaches that enhance environmental quality, social well-being, cultural identity, and climate resilience.

Strategic Partner Organisations

IFLA Europe works closely with a diverse network of strategic partner organisations to strengthen the impact of landscape architecture across Europe and beyond.

Through collaboration with professional bodies, academic institutions, civil society organisations, built environment networks, and international agencies, we promote interdisciplinary approaches.

These partnerships enable IFLA Europe to contribute landscape expertise to policy discussions, research initiatives, advocacy campaigns, and knowledge exchange platforms, ensuring that the landscape perspective is integrated into decisions that shape Europe’s future.

By working together with our partners, we amplify the voice of landscape architects.
