Ana Luengo Añón (Spain) is a distinguished landscape architect, researcher, educator, and international advocate for the protection and management of cultural landscapes. Holding a PhD in Landscape Architecture, with research focused on Landscape Techniques and Aesthetics, she has dedicated her career to advancing the understanding of landscape as a key component of cultural heritage, environmental sustainability, and spatial quality.

Internationally recognised for her expertise in cultural landscapes and historic gardens, Ana has served as President of IFLA Europe, where she played a significant role in strengthening cooperation among landscape architects across Europe and promoting the profession at the European and global levels. Her professional and academic work has consistently fostered dialogue between landscape architecture, heritage conservation, planning, and environmental design.

She is an active member of the Spanish National Committee of ICOMOS and the ICOMOS–IFLA International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes and Historic Gardens, contributing to the protection and management of some of the world’s most valuable cultural landscapes. Through these roles, she has been instrumental in promoting the recognition of landscape as an essential element of cultural identity and sustainable development.

As both a lecturer and course director, Ana has taught at universities in Spain and across Europe, inspiring generations of students and professionals. She is also the founder of CITEREA, a landscape architecture and environmental design practice whose award-winning projects have been realised in Spain and internationally, including Belgium, France, and Italy.

Among her most notable publications is World Heritage Cultural Landscapes, developed in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, reflecting her longstanding commitment to the conservation and enhancement of culturally significant landscapes worldwide.
